Woman stabbed, killed in Austin

A woman was stabbed and killed in a domestic-related incident Saturday in Austin on the West Side, Chicago police said.

Theresa Elkins, 56, was in a home at about 4:40 a.m. in the 5000 block of West Quincy Street when she was stabbed multiple times in the upper body and arms, police said.

She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, police said.

An autopsy Sunday determined she died from multiple sharp force injuries, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Her death has been ruled a domestic-related homicide, police said.

The offender is not in custody and Area North detectives are investigating.
