Woman stabbed in the neck in horror mugging left in serious condition

A woman is in a serious condition in hospital after she was stabbed in the neck in a suspected mugging in Dublin.

The woman, who is in her 40s, is understood to have been on her way home from work when she was set upon in a random attack near the IFSC in Dublin at 9:30pm last night.

It is understood her attacker attempted to rob her, and in the process stabbed her in the neck, leaving her in a serious condition on the street.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene and the woman was taken to Dublin’s Mater Hospital, where she is understood to be in a serious condition.

Gardai have confirmed they are investigating the incident.

In a statement to the Irish Mirror, a spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating an incident where a woman in her 40s was assaulted on the 20 January 2021 at 9.30pm Clarion Quay, Dublin.

"She was taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment.

"No arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing."
