Woman stabbed at house in Stockport - a man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

A woman was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in Stockport.

Police said they were called to a property on Robinson Street in Edgeley shortly before 9am this morning (Sunday) to reports someone had been stabbed.

They found a 46 year-old injured woman. She was taken to hospital for treatment.

The air ambulance was seen and heard landing on a car park by residents living close to the terraced street, just off Dale Street and Mercian Way - close to Stockport County's Edgeley Park.

Police confirmed the woman was taken to hospital by road.

Her condition has been described as stable.

A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder Greater Manchester Police said.

He has been taken into custody where he remains for questioning and enquiries are ongoing they added.

No further details about the incident have been released at this stage.

Police are asking anyone who may have information which could help their investigation however to come forward.
