Woman stabbed and girl, 7, attacked in Merseyside home

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was stabbed and a seven-year-old girl attacked on the Wirral .

Police swooped on a residential street in Greasby after the woman in her 30s was stabbed and the child attacked in a residential property at the weekend.

Officers descended on Greasby Road at around 11.45pm on Saturday.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said both the stabbing victim and injured young girl were taken to hospital.

Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening, police said today.

A man, 32-year-old Stephen Farrell of Upton Road, Moreton has been charged with attempted murder and assault.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court, Derby Square today, Monday, November 11.

A Merseyside Police spokesman confirmed: "At around 11.45pm, patrols were called to Greasby Road, Greasby to a report that a woman had been stabbed and child has been assaulted at a residential address."

He added: "The victims, a woman in her 30s and a seven year old child, were both taken to hospital for treatment. Thankfully, both victims injuries are not thought to be life threatening."
