Woman 'spiked herself' in pub and then claimed her drink was drugged

A woman was caught 'spiking her own drink' in a pub before claiming she had been drugged.

The Ship Inn, in Elie, Fife, said the woman and her partner left the boozer while waiting for police to arrive after providing false details.

The premises said CCTV footage showed the woman spiking herself and bosses shared pictures of the pair in a warning to others.

Police Scotland confirmed it had received a report about an alleged spiking, although no criminal behaviour had been established, the Daily Record reports.

The Ship Inn posted on Facebook : "WARNING! So just when life couldn’t get more bizarre - this couple came into the pub today.

"The lady claimed her drink had been spiked. We have it all on cctv and she in fact did it to herself.

"I’m not sure what she was planning on getting from it but they gave us false address and details and scarpered whilst we were waiting to speak to the police.

"Spread the word and don’t allow them in to your premises… #lifeisbonkers #bewarned"

Photos posted of the pair show the lady dressed in dark trousers, a white and black top and trainers.
