Woman spends £7k decorating her house for Christmas - including 14 Christmas trees and two giant Harrods bears

A woman has spend more than £7,000 decorating her house for Christmas.

Joanne Smith, 40, appeared on This Morning on Friday to show off her very own winter wonderland by creating 10 different themed areas in her Essex home.

The mum - dubbed Mrs Christmas - has decked out the outside and inside of her home with 14 Christmas trees, two 6ft Harrods bears that cost £1,900 each and a life-sized Santa.

Joanne says she puts on the gigantic festive display every year but for 2020 she has gone even "more over the top" to cheer people up during the pandemic.

She told ITV hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford: "I wanted to make it nice this year so I spent more than double what I usually spend.

"Luckily I'm on the path to school, so all the kids come every morning and evening and watch my house."

Joanne - who is mum to 13-year-old son, Joseph - took Eamonn, Ruth and viewers on a tour of her home, starting with her driveway which features various Christmas characters, including a gigantic Santa and bear, as well as light-up Christmas tree's and glowing wreaths on the gates.

She also showed off her 12ft tall gold and silver tree which sits in her hallway which sits next to an lit-up Santa, a giant nutcracker and stockings hanging from the staircase.

There's also two massive Harrods bears located in the house that cost a whopping £1,900 each.

Also inside the home there's various themed areas including the Grinch in the living room and a Candy Cane Land in the kitchen - you literally can't move for decorations.

She says it took her five days to complete and usually begins decorating around this time every year.

"I've always enjoyed Christmas and decorating is my thing," Joanne said.

"As we've moved to bigger houses I've started decorating more and more.

"Everyone in the village loves me, whether it's Easter, Halloween or Christmas, they’re really very used to me."
