Woman speechless as paper girl puts note through door of her festive home

The owner of a festive house said her day was made when she received a note from a "lovely" paper delivery girl.

Susie Dunne, from Southport, has received a number of complimentary remarks about the festive decorations on her house — but one made her day more than any other.

Susie, 46, came home to find a candy cane and an accompanying note from the local paper delivery girl telling her how much her house's decorations cheer her up.

The note read: "Hi, I am your paper girl and I just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas. Your decorations cheer me up everyday as I go passed them, they’re amazing! Lots of love."

Susie said she and her partner thought it was "the sweetest thing," before adding: "It made our day."

Susie told the ECHO she had never met the girl before as she always delivers her papers while she is at work.

But since the note has been left, she has spoken with the paper girl and returned the Christmas cheer by giving her a box of chocolates.

Susie said: "To write a little card off her own back and post it with a little candy cane is just the sweetest thing.

"I was working from home the day after and I left her a note saying can she knock on the door as we had wrote her a little card.

Susie said the note came from the loveliest girl (Susie Dunne)

"We told her how much we loved her card, how it made our day and how we were glad she enjoyed our Christmas decorations."

Susie and her partner are set to enjoy their second Christmas in their home and love decorating at this time of year.

She said: "We've got icicles all around the top of the house and underneath the bay window. We've got a reindeer that's lit up and a Christmas tree outside.

"It's really beautiful but I'm sure you'd be able to see us from space.

"When we were putting up the lights a woman drove past and beeped and told us she loved it.

"It's the house that makes people smile. We love doing it and we love that the paper girl loves the house."

Susie said when she put the photo of the note in the Southport Chat Facebook group she received lots of messages saying "how beautiful a young girl" the paper girl was.

Susie added: "I think people thought it was because she wanted a little tip, but she didn't do it for that purpose. She did it just because she loves our decorations.

"I would say she's about 13 and she's just a very, very sweet and lovely kid.

"She's very genuine and just a lovely soul. She really made our day."
