Fahima Choudhury has come out the other side of two years in a controlling relationship

A young woman told how her ex-boyfriend left her fearing for her life during a stalking campaign.

Misbah Ali, 22, of Limehouse, throttled Fahima Choudhury, 21, and shared a sexual video of her during the four-month ordeal.

The torment began after she ended their six month relationship.

Ali stalked Ms Choudhury at university and even emailed the institution posing as a prospective student to get hold of the timetable for her course.

On two separate occasions he trapped her in a classroom on her own and attacked her — once hitting her over the head with her laptop because she refused to unblock him on social media.

Ali pleaded guilty to stalking and disclosing sexual images last month and was given a five-year restraining order and two-year suspended sentence.

Ms Choudhury told the Standard: “I was fearing for my life and would always expect him to be around every corner. I didn’t want to leave the house. I just felt like he was in total control of my life.”

Ali lavished her with attention but his increasingly controlling behaviour caused her to break things off.

She said: “I’d wake up to millions of missed calls, he had to be on the phone to me all the way to uni or work.”

She said she wanted to speak out to encourage others who were victims of similar behaviour to seek help.

She added: “If you have people around you, you should open up before anything escalates – don’t be afraid of one individual and let him dictate your life.”
