Woman spat on handcuffs after being arrested in Hartcliffe

A woman in her 50s spat on handcuffs after police arrested her for breaking a domestic violence order.

The offender has now been fined £50 for breaching the order after a hearing at Bristol Magistrates Court.

Police were called to a home in Hartcliffe at 9am on Tuesday (January 26) after reports of an argument.

They arrested a woman and placed her in handcuffs - which she then spat on.

An Avon and Somerset police spokeswoman said: "Officers attended an address in Hartcliffe following a report from a member of the public about a woman behaving in an aggressive manner.

"A woman in her 50s was found to be in breach of a domestic violence protection order and was arrested.

"Following her arrest, the offender spat over the handcuffs she had been placed in and as a result she was further arrested for criminal damage. However, no further action is being taken in relation to the damage."

The offender admitted to a breach of the order at Bristol Magistrates Court.

She has not been named by police.
