Woman Sparks Heated TikTok Debate After Revealing The Reason Why Her Boyfriend Started Running

A woman has sparked a ‘yuge debate about relationships and dating after revealing the reason why her boyfriend started running as a hobby.

Relationships and dating are two topics punters LOVE to yap about on TikTok — AKA the breeding ground for funky trends, foodie tips and, of course, hot takes.

Most recently, Zara (@zarastoast) has sent the platform into a full-blown tizzy after posting a 12-second video about her partner and the reason why he began to run.

“POV: You complete a marathon less than a week ago, and now your BF (who has never ran in his life) has made it his new personality to beat your time,” she wrote in the viral video alongside the caption, “God forbid a girl have [sic] a hobby!”.

Immediately after the video went viral — clocking more than 1.4 million views at the time of writing — folks flocked to the comments, pointing out why they were concerned about her partner’s behaviour.

“I would break up with someone over this,” one person wrote.

“Some of you are letting your biggest hater share your bed, and it’s actually sad to watch,” another punter commented.

“Well, since you’re already good at running… RUN AGAIN, FAR AWAY FROM HIM,” wrote a third.

While most of the comments are dragging Zara’s boyfriend for trying to “beat” her time, others came to his defence, commenting that she “inspired” him to get up and running.

“God forbid a man be inspired by his woman,” one person shared.

“All of y’all in this comment section are insecure cause ik that man has no ill intentions,” another viewer wrote.

Of course, with so many people chucking in their two cents on her relationship, Zara shared a follow-up video explaining that her BF is actually her “biggest cheerleader” and that it was “nothing malicious”.

“I’ve 100 per cent inspired him,” she wrote.

“He’s my biggest cheerleader, tracking me last week, organising stops, making sure I had enough to drink and wearing this amazing hat. Nothing malicious just our healthy competition/competitiveness.”

While she attempted to save her BF’s face with the footage of him supporting her during a marathon, folks on TikTok doubled down on their concerns with her partner’s behaviour.

“Denial is a river in Egypt,” one person joked.

“‘Trying to beat your best time’ isn’t ‘your biggest cheerleader.’ If he were cheering you on, his mission would be to join you with [sic] your next marathon,” another person commented.

While I try my best to be a neutral baddie when it comes to these spicy TikTok debates, I have to say I lowkey agree with the folks calling out the boyfriend for making it his “personality” to beat his girlfriend’s achievement.

While having a little competition is fun in relationships (I do froth a sweaty game of basketball at the arcade), to make it your whole personality to beat someone you love is wild, IMO.
