Woman sparks fierce debate after confessing she only showers three times a week

A woman has divided opinions after she shared how often she showers online.

After finding out that her pals showered every day, she took to the parenting forum Mumsnet, to ask if other people thought her personal hygiene was "disgusting" - and many people thought they were.

The woman explained that she was out with her pals when talk turned to shower habits, reports Daily Star.

"Ok, so I'm having a few drinks with friends last night. We are an all-female mix of parents and non-parents," she wrote.

"One friend mentions she is struggling to find time for a shower every day since she had her baby."

Stunned at the confession, she told them: "'Well I don't shower every day without a young baby.' All of my friends looked at me in horror.

"Apparently even the ones with kids shower daily."

The woman, who has two daughters, one who is under five years old, said she works part-time.

So it just makes sense for her to shower on the days that she's going into work - plus an extra day in between, which brings her total number of showers to three times a week, she explained.

"My days off usually consist of playing at home, walking the dog, school run and maybe park.

"I would shower extra if exercising/having sex/on period etc. I bathe my dc [darling child] three times a week.

"My OH [other half] works out every weekday so he does shower more than me."

She concluded her post by asking users whether she was "disgusting" for how often she showers and they were quick to share their opinion.

One person said: "Personally I think 3 times a week is pretty grim, sorry.

"I am a shower everyday person. I can’t get going in the morning without one, to be honest."

Another wrote: "Shower when you want to? If you stink then yes, shower more. If not, who actually cares just how much time you spend washing?"

"4 kids, single parent, shower daily, always have even when they were newborns. I wouldn’t leave the house without one tbh," revealed a third.

Someone else said: "Each to their own, really.

"Twice a day for me (three times when been to the gym or for a swim, etc). My husband is the same. I didn't think we were that unusual."

What do you think? Is having a shower only three times a week "grim"? Let us know in the comments.
