Woman slashed in neck in brutal Dublin stabbing sadly dies in hospital as victim named

A woman who was slashed in the neck in a horrific attack in Dublin has sadly lost her battle to stay alive dying in hospital this morning.

Urantsetseg Tserendorj was walking home from work on the night of January 20 when she was attacked near Custom House Quay in Dublin city centre.

Ms Tserendorj had been fighting for her life since the horror assault but was pronounced dead at the Mater University Hospital today.

A teen on a bicycle is believed to have approached the 48-year-old and demanded cash, before fleeing towards the Quays empty-handed.

The victim was an Asian woman who was employed as an office cleaner.

Despite the serious injuries, she was able to call emergency services from her mobile.

Store Street officers investigating the serious assault on the pedestrian walkway between George's Dock and Custom House Quay, IFSC, arrested a juvenile who has been charged.

A garda spokesman said: "A woman in her 40s seriously injured in the course of an incident on the 20th of January 2021 while walking on the pedestrian walkway, between Georges Dock and Custom House Quay, IFSC, Dublin 1 was pronounced dead at The Mater University Hospital today, 3rd February 2021.

"Gardaí await the outcome of a post-mortem examination to determine the course of further investigations in the case."
