Woman slams husband for 'ridiculous list of expectations' for his birthday party

A woman has slammed her husband after he gave her a 'list of expectations' for his birthday - which she says are completely 'ridiculous' and unrealistic.

Sharing her story anonymously, the woman said she understood why her husband wanted to make his birthday special - but added that his list of demands went a step too far.

When she protested, the man said these new rules would only be in place for his 'birthday month', but she insisted they were over the top and refused.

Now the man is calling his wife selfish for not giving in to his demands, saying that she is ruining his 30th birthday and being 'selfish'.

Taking to Reddit, she said: "My husband is turning 30 next month. It's a big deal for him clearly and he wanted to rightfully be 'pampered' and feel special on this occasion.

"But the thing is that he came up with a list and called it 'birthday month expectations'. I didn't know what that meant until he started reading the list out loud which consists of things he expects throughout the entire month."

The woman gave some examples, which include him not being asked to do any chores, he gets to play with his Xbox whenever he wants, and he doesn't have to pay his share of the rent.

She added that he also stipulated he can go out with his friends whenever he wants, and gets to skip work and sleep in without being bothered to wake up to drive their son to school or do any emergency fixes.

She continued: "In other words, he wants a month-long vacation and time off from his responsibilities as a partner and as a father. I said are you being serious right now and he made a face and said, 'oh no worries, this will only last for a month'.

"I called him ridiculous and said absolutely not I do not agree to anything on that list and said that his expectations for his birthday month were out of line.

"He pitched a fit giving me grief about how I'm being selfish towards his wants and that in my place he would've agreed to do all he could to make my 'birthday month' the happiest month of the year for me."

Other Reddit users rushed to the woman's defence and said she was right to question her husband as his demands were over the top.

One said: "If I pulled that s**t on my wife I’d expect divorce papers for my birthday present."

While another wrote: "As an adult you don't get a 'birthday month' or get to ignore your responsibilities for a month. His request is so unrealistic and out of touch with reality."

And a third added: "He isn’t serious, is he? Or are you married to a three-year-old?"
