Woman slams 'disrespectful' fly tippers after rubbish dumped near parents' grave

A woman has slammed "disrespectful" fly tippers who dumped mounds of rubbish near her parents' grave.

Jeanette Johnson discovered discarded furniture in the car park at Ford Cemetery in Litherland on Saturday, after she went to lay a wreath for her parents.

The items left strewn across the cemetery included a wardrobe, mattress springs and two bedside cabinets.

The 52-year-old from Lydiate was left in disbelief at "how low someone could stoop in what is meant to be a sacred place."

Jeanette told the ECHO: "It's a place you go to respect relatives who have died.

"Someone obviously doesn't have that respect for everyone else.

"It's just unbelievable how low someone could stoop in what is meant to be a sacred place.

"It's obviously been done late on in the dark when no one would see."

While at the cemetery Jeanette said she also discovered that a flower pot had been stolen from her parents' grave.

Jeanette said: "One of the flower pots had been stolen and it's not the first time this has happened.

"It was from the base of the gravestone. There's two either side so it's not as if it's blown out.

"I know this year has been a difficult year for everyone but you just don't expect that, do you?

"It's not so much the [cost of the] pot off the grave, they only cost a couple of pounds to buy, but to go and steal a pot off a grave is low."
