The lullaby is now officially a cross-species phenomenon after video emerged of someone singing a baby elephant to sleep.
In the Chai Lai Orchid sanctuary, caretaker Allie can be seen cradling a baby elephant's head in her lap as she hums a soothing tune.
Based in the Chiang Mai mountains of Thailand, Allie has lived with the three-week-old elephant since the day it was born.
Words accompanying the video claim that the sanctuary is attempting to resuce the elephant's family and bring them to Chai Lai Orchid.
The resort was originally founded for the purpose of housing and training local minority girls at risk of human trafficking.
Its website says that 'What began as a brainstorming exercise for Burmese refugees to imagine their dream jobs, turned into an eco-lodge with hospitality training.'
The number of domesticated elephants in Thailand is estimated at 2,700 with a similar amount of wild ones. These numbers have plummeted since 1850, when around 100,000 elephants were domesticated.
