A fitness coach has shared a reminder of how seemingly 'perfect' Instagram photos can be far from reality, by posting a series of snaps before and after editing. Holly Cockerill often uploads heavily altered pictures as a warning of how easily people can change their appearance online.
The influencer shared various side-by-side images that show her before and after applying an online beauty filter. One picture shows Holly smiling alongside her boyfriend, with the edited version completely changing her straight hair to soft, beachy waves.
The filter has smoothed out Holly's skin and given her much heavier make-up. Her waist has also been made to appear slimmer, Wales Online reports.
Another picture shows Holly pulling a funny face. The edited version beside it suddenly shows her smiling instead, with thicker eyelashes, a more contoured face, and defined eyebrows.
Captioning the side-by-side photos, Holly said: "This is for the gals that need a reminder that not everyone is as perfect and airbrushed as they seem, and that’s okay! We are perfectly imperfect".
The posts quickly amassed hundreds of likes, with many people commenting on the "extreme" photo edits. Charlotte said: "This is actually wild! And so sad that people feel they have to do this".
Taylor Leanne Perkins said: "Amazing! Needed this today, teaches women to be comfortable in there own skin, we need to stop putting filters on and be proud of who we are naturally".
Carly said: "It’s unbelievable people can do this isn’t it xx".
