Not everyone has the knack for home decorating, and for one man, his lack of interior design skill left his wife desperate to redesign his whole living room.
A Reddit user named Mimi has shared before and after pictures of a room in her husband’s house, which she took on as a personal project when she joined him in living in the property – and the transformation is impressive.
She wrote in the Home Decorating subreddit: "This is how my husband's living room used to look like before moving in. And this is how it looks like now after I decorated the entire place."
The ‘before’ images show the room looking drab and outdated, with visibly worn-out curtains, a beaded chandelier, and tacky white leather sofas.
Once Mimi got her hands on the property, the room underwent a drastic change and ‘after’ pictures depict a much brighter and inviting living room.
The woman swapped out the former cream walls for a bright white, and set up house plants and trendy new white bookshelves, as well as rattan baskets, lampshades and candle holders to modernise the space.
While the old curtains looked like something from times gone by, his wife threw them out and opted for white drapes and white blinds instead.
On the wall, there was also some macrame mirrors in various sizes.
As for the sofas, the white leather was chucked in the bin and replaced by a chic grey corner sofa as well as a rattan chair to match the rest of the room.
Mimi’s impressive work was a hit with fellow Reddit users too, who left hundreds of comments expressing their amazement at the transformation.
One wrote: “Wow, great job! So much more homely and modern.”
And another added: “You were sent by the decorating gods to rescue this man.”
While a third person said: “Wow that was truly some god awful decorating in the before pics. You are very talented!! Love the update.”
