Woman shows off staggering difference between size 12 jeans from different shops

A woman has revealed the staggering difference between size 12 trousers at popular fashion brands - including Topshop, ASOS, Pretty Little Thing and Boohoo.

While it's no secret that sizes are different between stores, Sophie Shakeshaft's TikTok video shows an unbelievable difference.

She shared the video to remind people that clothing sizing is meaningless, writing: "Don't put value on your clothes size babygirl."

Viewers were shocked at the difference and thanked her for highlighting the issue, saying it made them feel "so much better" about themselves.

In the clip, Sophie tries on jeans, tracksuit bottoms and leather trousers from some of her favourite stores.

Sophie hopes her video will make people stop judging themselves on what size they wear (@sophieshakeshaft/TikTok)

She starts with a pair of lilac jogging bottoms from ASOS's Tall range - and the size 12 fits perfectly.

However the Tall Boohoo light blue jeans she changes into next are far too big.

Up next, a pair of black leather trousers - again from ASOS's Tall range - won't even do up.

Topshop's Tall white jeans are also too small and she can't button them up.

A pair of khaki trousers from Topshop are too big, while some black jeans from PrettyLittleThing are the perfect fit.

She finishes with some ASOS mom jeans, which are again far too big, and adds the message: "Notice my body didn't change size once during this video!

"Don't put value on your clothes size babygirl."

Fans took to the comments section to praise her video.

One wrote: "I needed this. Gonna start buying the size that fits me best in that piece of clothing. I would normally feel paranoid if my usual size doesn't fit me."

Another commented: "Thank you so so so much. Honestly this actually made me tear up a little bit. I feel like I am always judging myself by what's on the label."

A third added: "I love this it's made me feel a whole lot better now."

Another wrote: "Thank you for making this. I don't know what size I am because of the differences. I thought there was something wrong with me."

Others called for brands to come together to sort out their sizing.

One wrote: "I always feel bad when something doesn't fit even knowing it's probably not my fault. They really need to do something about this."

Sophie's video has been viewed more than 39,000 times and has attracted hundreds of comments.
