Woman shows drivers a simple tip to defrost your car quicker - and it doesn't cost a penny

With temperatures plummeting and snow expected from next week, it's that time of year where drivers are experiencing frequent frost on their windscreens. If you don't have any de-icer to hand, trying to clear it using your heater alone can be pretty time consuming - especially if you're in a rush to get somewhere.

One woman has now shown drivers how to defrost their car much quicker - and it doesn't cost an extra penny. Mum Sara Deutsch shared her useful hack to video sharing platform TikTok and it has since racked up more than 2.9 million views.

Drivers have since took to the comments to share how 'smart' the advice is and that after so many years of driving, the method was something that they have never known or thought of before.

In the viral video, the mum revealed how simply pulling down your sun visors on each side whilst blasting your heater can help to clear the frost on your car windscreen much faster, reports The Mirror.

During the 30 second clip, Sara explained: "So I do this video every year. If you have a windshield that is frosted over - make sure you put your visors down so that it stops the air flow and it creates a fast defrost on your windshield.

"So, if you ever have a sheet of ice on your car when it's frosted, put this down. Otherwise you can feel the air just come straight up over it.

"If you put this own it creates a block so that it actually defrosts faster."

The TikTok video was titled 'teen drivers need to know this', but many adult drivers have since taken to the comments to praise the hack.

"That's actually pretty smart," one person commented.

"Teens???? I'm 40! I didn't know that!," another wrote.

A third agreed: "I'm sorry a teen driver… I just learned this at 32 lol."

A fourth TikToker said: "36. news to me. I've been using washer fluid."

Another user penned: "As a Canadian, what the f***- why no one taught me THIS?".
