Woman shot to death on Aurora porch: police

A 19-year-old woman was shot and killed Friday in west suburban Aurora, according to police.

Officers were dispatched just after 10:20 p.m. to the the 400 block of East Benton Street for a report of a person shot on the front porch of a home, Aurora police said. There they found Maritza Cazares with gunshot wounds.

Cazares was taken an area hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said. Cazares lived in Aurora.

Police said the shooting does not appear to be a random incident but do not believe that Cazares was the intended target.

Aurora police are conducting a homicide investigation.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Aurora police at 630-256-5500 or leave an anonymous tip at 630-892-1000.
