Little Village woman found shot dead in Lawndale

A 34-year-old woman from Little Village was found shot to death inside a car Monday evening in the Lawndale neighborhood.

Vanisha Patrick was fatally shot about 8:25 p.m. in the 3600 block of West Polk Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

She was found unresponsive inside the car with a gunshot wound to her head, Chicago police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shortly after the shooting, police could be seen investigating near a parked vehicle with more than a dozen markers nearby.

A police spokeswoman Tuesday morning was unable to provide additional details about the shooting.

Area Four detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
