Woman shares simple hack to achieving fresh looking hair without dry shampoo

We’ve all heard the stories from beauty gurus who say we shouldn’t wash our hair every day, but how do we fend off the oil build-up between washes?

Some of us might use dry shampoo to keep our hair looking fresh, but one TikTok user has devised a better solution which doesn’t use the spray – and could even help make your hair cleaner.

Melissa Tovar, who posts under the username @xomelissatovar, says you should simply rub normal shampoo into only the front portion of your hair and wash it out, which will leave your whole head looking fresh once again.

She said in a video: “Instead of dry shampoo, the next time your hair looks super oily, try this.

“Section off the front of your hair, which is usually where your hair looks the most oily. Go in with a gentle shampoo and then wash it off.

“Add a texturizing spray and blow dry the first layer. When you’re done, your hair will look freshly washed.”

The trick gives hair the benefits of a wash but without going through the hassle of getting in the shower and fully washing, drying, and styling your hair.

Melissa said that this method is a “5 to 10-minute solution versus an hour for my entire head” and insisted that it “works every time”.

The video has almost 130,000 views – and commenters can’t believe they didn’t know about the hack beforehand.

One person said: “I am so trying this!”

As another added: “This is genius.”

While other commenters agreed that the hack was a huge time-saver, as they said they’d been using the trick for years.

Someone said: “I’ve been doing this for years, way better than dry shampoo.”

And someone else wrote: “I forget about this hack even though I used to do this in middle school so often. Thanks for the reminder!”

While a third commented: “When I had a full fringe as a teen, I would wash it every other day over the sink like this. Such a good hack.”
