Woman shares savage reasons she never wants kids - and some '100 percent agree'

A woman has been praised online for being honest with her brutal list of reasons why she'll never have children, including fears about pregnancy and childbirth, as well as the possibility that she may "hate" her own kid.

Maria Angelopoulos, from Australia, posted a video on TikTok in which she detailed the reasons she wants to remain child-free, and many people have said they agree with her points, the Daily Star reports.

In the clip, which has over 1 million views, Maria could be seen with a screenshot from the notes app on her phone behind her, which listed all the reasons she spoke about in more detail throughout the video.

Most importantly, Maria said the number one reason she won't be becoming a mum anytime soon is simply that she doesn't want to - which is more than reason enough to not go through with having a baby.

She said: Reasons I will not be having children. Number one and most importantly, I don’t want to."

Maria, who posts under the username @m.a.r.i.aaaaaaaa then went on to explain she finds the concept of pregnancy "scary", and she also isn't keen on the idea of giving birth - especially after hearing horror stories from other women.

She added: "I don’t want to be pregnant, I don’t want my belly to grow, my body to change and my organs to move. There will be something stuck in there for nine months. Scary things can happen to women during pregnancy, you can lose your teeth, you can lose your hair – I don’t want to go through that.

“I don’t want to have to give birth, it’s really scary. Women die during birth, or you rip down to your a***hole and then the doctors stitch you up. Does that sound like a good time? No.”

Next on her list was the possibility that she won't like her child when they grow up and form their own opinions, and she wouldn't know how to cope if that was the case.

She said: "What if I don’t like them? Kids are going to grow up to have their own thoughts and feelings, their own opinions. What if they are really annoying and I hate my child? What if he becomes an alpha male with a podcast, what do I do then?"

Other things mentioned on Maria's list include her fear that should we see the end of the world, she would have to fend for herself and a child, and the very real worry that the world is currently a "bad place" that she doesn't particularly want to bring a child into.

Maria also insisted she doesn't want to change nappies, isn't fond of the idea of breastfeeding, and doesn't make enough money to support a child.

And although she's not keen on having a baby of her own, Maria is more than happy to play aunt to other people's kids - as she knows she can give them back at the end of the day.

She said: "I’m a firm believer that it takes a village to raise a child so I love the role of auntie. If you need someone to look after your kid I’ll do it. If you want to go take a shower and take five minutes alone, I’ll look after your kid.

"But at least I can give them back. As a mother you have full responsibility for the child at all times, I don’t want that responsibility."

Commenters on Maria's TikTok video were largely supportive of her standpoint, with some agreeing that they also can't see themselves raising a child.

One person said: "100 per cent agree."

While another added: "This list is also my list."

And many said that the woman shouldn't have felt the need to make the video in the first place, as just saying that you don't want to have kids should be enough without having to explain yourself further.

Someone wrote: "When I think about it, it’s crazy that women need to justify themselves for not wanting kids. Like men don’t need to justify, so why do we have to?!"

As someone else agreed, posting: "Not wanting to is enough of a reason. Women shouldn’t have to name reasons to justify why they don’t want kids."
