Many of us are starting to thing about putting our Christmas trees up and decorating our homes - if you haven't already. And one key feature you are likely including is Christmas lights, to give that all important festive ambience.
Looking throughout your lights, you may have noticed a small red light bulb. But have you any idea what this does? You are not alone!
Lots of people reckon the small red light is a spare bulb or replacement, but sharing the real reason behind the little light on social media, a woman claims it is a 'game changer' for festive décor.

Taking to TikTok, the woman explained that the little-known fact about the wee Christmas light, demonstrating the true use to viewers. And it has left lots of people shocked, being viewed over 19 million times online, reports The Mirror.
The video shows the lady simply removing a single bulb and replacing it with the red one. "Remove regular bulb and replace," the TikToker advised in her demonstration.
The extra light not only gives off a different colour from the rest, but also gives the string of lights a flickering effect. And it can be used instead of a remote.
The woman admitted: "I was today years old when I found out what these are for."
People were quick to take to the comments sharing their surprise, with thousands left perplexed.
One person claimed: "I thought they were spares."
A second added: "Wait what??????? I thought they were replacements!"
A shocked third used wrote: "I swear to god this app has taught me more in the last year than I have been alive."
"Dude all they had to do was write that somewhere on the box. I wasted so many years not knowing about this." Another added.
"NGL I'm embarrassed that I didn't know this," a fifth commented.
