Woman shares moving photo of 73-year-old father working in ER amid coronavirus outbreak

A picture of a 73-year-old emergency roomdoctor is going viral amid the coronavirus outbreak after his daughter shared it on Twitter.

On Monday, Kristin Fisher, a Fox News correspondent, texted her father and asked how he was holding up. In return, she received a photo of him wearing a face mask and his doctor’s coat.

“This is my dad. He’s a 73-year-old emergency room physician in Texas who loves his job and will never retire,” Fisher captioned the photo. “He texted me this picture tonight after I’d asked him how he was doing, and I burst into tears the second I saw it.

“My reaction came out of nowhere…”

According to Fisher, she believes her reaction was the result of the gravity of the situation finally hitting her.

“I’d been watching Narcos and laughing seconds earlier. I called him to say I was worried about him, but could barely speak as I fought to keep my voice steady,” she continued. “I think we all have a moment where the gravity of what’s happening finally hits us. This was mine.”

The picture, which has since been liked more than 83,000 times, prompted support from Fisher’s followers, many of whom also shared their stories of their own parents working in the emergency rooms.

“Your dad is a hero!” one person commented.

Another said: “Not all heroes wear capes.”

As of Wednesday, there have been 7,398 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the United States.
