Woman shares 'magic' cling film hack that removes stains from stove tops

Let's face it, many of us don't clean our stoves quite as often as we probably should - and that can mean we're left with stains and burn marks around the hobs that are impossible to clean once we eventually get around to it.

But one cleaning expert has said you don't need to spend hours scrubbing hopelessly at your hob, as there's actually an easy way to lift the burnt-on grime with just a few items and some patience.

A woman named Auri posted a video on TikTok in which she shared her "best cleaning hack" for removing burnt stains from stove tops, and said all you need is an oven cleaning spray and cling film.

In her video, shared to her @aurikatariina account, the woman sprayed cleaning product over the burnt stains that circled each of her four hobs, before she then covered the entire stove top with cling film.

Then comes the hardest part of the hack - waiting a whole 24 hours for the product to get to work and lift the stains.

She said in her video: "This life hack will change your life.

"Spray oven cleaner on the burnt surface. Place cling film on top of it. Wait 24 hours."

Auri then cut to the stove 24 hours later as she lifted the cling film off, and the stains had shifted - leaving a black mess on her stove that needed to be cleaned up.

The woman first used a Scour Daddy - which is a scouring pad made by Scrub Daddy - to lift any remaining stains from around the hobs, and then just used a regular cloth to wipe up the rest of the grime.

She added: "The stains have melted off! Scrub it with a Steel Daddy [and then] wipe it clean."

Auri finished the job with some stove polisher that she used to return each hob to its sparkling black glory, and then her stove was left looking good as new.

There are many oven and kitchen cleaners that could work for Auri's hack, but you can pick up a Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner for £3 from Wilko, where you can also buy cling film for as little as 70p.

Scour Daddy pads can be bought from several shops including The Range, where they cost £3.99 for a pack of three.

Commenters on the video were blown away by how easy it seemed to be to lift stubborn stains from stove tops, with some branding the hack "amazing".

One person said: "Amazing!!"

While another added: "This is honestly amazing, I can't believe you made it look brand new."

And praising the power of cleaning, Auri replied: "I know right? Cleaning is like magic!"

Some other commenters questioned what they were supposed to do for food if their oven is out of use for 24 hours, and Auri responded to say that if takeaways or alternate dinner plans weren't an option, just leaving the product overnight instead of for a full 24 hours should also work.
