Woman shares 'life-changing' cooking hack to avoid having greasy bolognese

If cooked correctly, spag bol makes for a comforting and very tasty mid-week staple, a dish that can also be jazzed up at the weekend should you fancy something a bit more special.

Rich, tomatoey, and instantly satisfying, there are very few other dishes so reliably guaranteed to tempt the whole family.

However, the flavours can of course be impacted if the mince proves to be a bit too greasy.

Thankfully a thrifty food vlogger has now shared what she claims is 'the best cooking hack ever' to avoid that offputting and all too common greasy taste, allowing you to enjoy bolognese the way it was meant to be eaten.

Taking to her popular TikTok channel @healingwithholly22, easy budget recipes vlogger Holly demonstrated a very quick and easy tip to getting rid of any grease from a pan of mince and all you'll need is a good old-fashioned paper towel.

Addressing viewers in the video, Holly explained: “Fold up a paper towel, put it in your tongs, point your grease to the bottom of the pan, pick it up, easy disposal.”

The clip shows Holly safely removing any noticeable traces of grease from the pan, without having to hover it over a bin or sink which - as any home cooks know - can be a very risky business indeed.

The vid has been liked more than 194.9K times at the time of writing, and her opinionated followers have been left surprisingly divided on the topic of grease vs. no grease.

In a comment which has racked up hundreds of approving likes, one follower declared "that's where all the flavour is at", while another gasped "but all the flavour...."

Holly has reassured people that she "always uses my grease but this was way too much", adding: "I definitely didn’t want to rinse it, there goes all the flavour".

In response to another comment on the same topic, she explained that she had used "a butcher blend with short ribs, chuck roast and ground beef" which she says "definitely had much more grease".

Many others approved of this hack, with one person writing: "Been doing this forever. Save ur sink drains from becoming blocked from straining it in the sink. People forget that once it cools it becomes a solid."

Another said "Why did no one tell me about this?! It’s awesome thank you very much", while a third declared "Omg life changer! Straining beef is such a pain!"
