A woman has left her social media followers speechless after unveiling the "hidden compartment" found at the bottom of the toaster.
The crumb tray is by no means a new feature to the appliance, but it turns out that many toaster owners were unaware of its existence. As the name suggests, it catches surplus crumbs from bread and should be cleaned about once a week.
The revelation came courtesy of a professional cleaner who enlightened her 520,000 TikTok followers. In a video shared to the platform, user and business @thebigcleanco, asked viewers how often they clean the compartment.
As reported by the Mirror, the woman says in the clip: "There's something about you I want to know... When did you last clean out your toaster tray?" But the comments soon strayed from the original question, as viewers were taken aback by the revelation.

The clip showed the cleaning guru pulling out a small compartment at the bottom of her toaster, which easily slid out of the appliance with the pull of two fingers.
Since sharing the discovery, the TikToker's video has raked in over 100,000 views to date - where people willingly admitted their shock in the comments.
TikTok users rushed to the comment section to discuss the shocking reveal, with several people claiming that they had 'no idea' such a part existed. One person wrote: "I had no idea a toaster has a tray."
".... a toaster tray?" another confused TikTok user questioned. The original poster joked: "I'm guessing that's a 'never'."
A third penned: "I didn't even know that a toaster has a tray....... Lol." A fourth claimed: "I didn't know a toaster has a tray. I usually just flip it upside down and shake it"
"Um...... I didn't know there was one," a fifth added. Another wrote: "Wait? Toasters have trays?"
Someone was so shocked they simply wrote: "There's a TRAY?!?!?!?"
