Woman shares her 'lip blush tattoo' - but beauty fans are very concerned by results

Lip blushing - a semipermanent cosmetic tattooing procedure whereby pigments are injected into a person's lips - has risen in popularity in recent years, with more and more women seeking a full pout.

Jessie Carr, a 21-year-old from Sydney, Australia, recently opted to go for this non-invasive procedure and was advised that there would be some temporary bruising and swelling.

However, Jessie was surprised after some of her TikTok followers expressed amazement at how much her lips had swelled up, telling her that "lip blush tattoo is not meant to look like that".

Jessie - who has previously been open with followers about her botched fox eye threads - decided to document her healing process via a series of TikTok videos, and in the first one, her lips looked very swollen indeed.

Explaining that she'd had the procedure done for free as part of a collaboration, Jessie - who goes by the username _jessiecarr - said: "I don’t want you guys to think they did a bad job because they definitely did a proper job and it’s meant to be like this.

"They were actually more swollen before and I think they’ve gone down slightly".

She added: "They were bigger and more bruised but now the bruises are slowly going away. Some of the swelling has gone down but it’s still very swollen. They were very sore and they still feel bruised but not as sore as when I was there getting it done".

However, a number of Jessie's followers didn't like the look of her tattooed lips, with one person writing, "I specialise in lip blush in Sydney and this is way too swollen and it shouldn’t actually hurt".

Others remarked that their lips "definitely didn’t look like this" after the same procedure.

Jessie continued to document her healing process, all while reassuring her followers that her lips were totally fine. In a recent vid, taken six days after the procedure, the swelling had gone down considerably, and Jessie appeared pleased with the result.

Explaining that they were "now out of the peeling stage", Jessie revealed that they had been peeling for around "four to five days", and that she'd had to keep on top of moisturising them every day.

Detailing the aftercare she had to adhere to in the days after her lip tattoo, Jessie added: "I had to avoid getting liquids and food on them and stuff. I could only get water on them if I had to clean them. Now I don't have to be as careful, and they're really soft".

Although she didn't have to pay for them herself, Jessie told her now admiring followers that the procedure would set the average customer back around $400 to $500 (£210 to £265), with results lasting for approximately three years.
