Woman shares hack to defrost windscreen but it doesn't go to plan

With temperatures plummeting, and much of the country having seen snow this weekend, we are once again lumbered with the task of de-icing our windscreens.

One woman, however, has a simple hack which means she can avoid the chore.

Under the username @kirstennp_ on TikTok, she has revealed that she lays a large bath towel across the entire length of her windscreen in the evening and leaves it there overnight.

As temperatures drop in the early hours, the towel will absorb water and freeze rather than the windscreen, the Mirror reports.

In the video, she can be heard saying: "When you put a towel on your windscreen to stop it freezing overnight.

"It’s frozen itself."

'Like a crisp' (TikTok/kirstennp_)

The video is captioned "like a crisp", referring to the solid state of the towel.

It does work, though, as her windscreen is left completely clear.

Since being shared, the video has racked up more than 252,000 likes and almost 2,000 comments from people praising her clever idea.

Fai Morgan wrote: "I didn't think this worked. Would have saved me 20 minutes defrosting mine this morning."

Ry wrote: "Did the job though aye!"

Anthony Rutherford said: "Be awesome on holiday, you could just frisbee it onto your sunbed lol". [sic]
