Woman shares 'genius' method to making dresses fit 'perfectly' - with no sewing needed

Slip dresses seem to be all the rage right now, but the shapeless fashion items aren't always the most flattering of garments - especially when they don't hug your curves just right.

But one woman on TikTok has come up with the perfect solution, as the Daily Star reports she shared her hack for ensuring your slip dresses always cinch your waist in all the right places without needing to break out the sewing kit.

Carolina Freixa posted a video in which she revealed the easiest way to achieve the perfect figure-hugging dress is to turn the garment inside out and put it on, before attaching a safety pin to each side of the dress along your waistline.

Next, Carolina said you should tie a piece of string through each safety pin before bringing the pieces of string into the centre of the dress and tying them together - which pulls the fabric inwards around your waist.

Then, simply flip the dress the right way again and put it on.

Carolina, who posts under the username @carolinafreixa, captioned the video: "How to make your dress fit perfectly."

The woman's video has already racked up over 5.4 million views, and people have been blown away by how easy the trick is to do.

One person said: "Girl, you're onto something."

While another added: "This is super helpful!"

"Genius! I hate wearing belts with dresses, and this is the perfect solution!", a third exclaimed.

Other commenters said that while the hack is easy to do without sewing, you could just as easily "sew loops" into the sides of your dress instead if you so choose, as some said safety pins could ruin the dress in the long run.

Someone wrote: "You are going to damage the dress though."

But another offered a solution, adding: "If you don't want to use pins, try and sew loops."

Meanwhile, some of the video's 745 commenters simply wanted to praise Carolina for looking gorgeous in the dress both before and after showing off her hack.

One said: "Even when the dress is inside out and backwards, it still looks good on you."
