At some point or other, many of us will have bought an otherwise gorgeous top or dress only to find that the neckline is a bit too low for our liking.
This frustrating obstacle will usually either lead to us carefully fastening the material together with safety pins, or pulling it up every five minutes to stop the world from getting an eyeful of bra lace.
However, there is another - and much more elegant - way, as recently demonstrated by clever sustainability and DIY expert, The Crafterlife, and it will finally put those "really annoying little ribbons" to good use.
The hack was explained in a recent TikTok video, with the resourceful craft blogger promising a "permanent solution to a gaping neckline".

The eco-friendly fashionista - who goes by the username @the_crafterlife - shared a video of herself wearing a pretty, yet low-fitting top, and demonstrated her simple fix.
She explained: "If you're sick of using safety pins to hold your top together when it sits too low then this hack is for you. Find those annoying little ribbons that sit inside the garment and cut them out.
"Then what you can do is carefully melt the edges so that they don't fray, mark on the top where you want it to close, and then hand-stitch - or with a machine - the ribbons onto the inside, for a permanent solution to a gaping neckline".
In the vid, which has been liked more than 22.8K times, the vlogger can be seen tying the ribbons together in a neat little bow, before tucking them away inside her top.
Needless to say, her followers have been impressed by this simple yet so effective tip, which will no doubt see many people digging out previously unwearable tops.
One person remarked that they would be "doing this to all my clothes now", while another wondered "why they don’t actually design shirts like this".
Others branded it "genius" and "brilliant".
