Woman shares 'genius' hack for when you have forgotten someone's name

Whether it's a new job, neighbours that have just moved in, or a friend of a friend, forgetting someone's name can be an embarrassing experience.

Nobody likes to ask people what their name is after they have been told, and things could become awkward if you wing it for too long. However there are sneaky ways to get someone to tell you their name without having to ask.

One woman is being praised as a "genius" after sharing a trick that you can use after forgetting someone's name

As reported by the Mirror, the simple hack prompts a person to say their own name, but it's disguised as a fun tongue-twister.

Captioning the clip, the TikTok user @niacc13 admitted: "I do this with the students at my school and with people I meet at gigs too."

"Wanna hear a life hack?" She questioned. Nia went on: "Whenever I don't know somebody's name, I say, 'do you know that it's really hard to say your own name three times really fast because you're not used to saying your own name?'"

TikTok users took to the comments to share their thoughts on the now-viral clip, which received 2.4 million views and nearly 250,000 likes.

One commented: "AND that's why you're winning at life queen," while a second TikTok user said: "I would just ask them how to spell their name."

"I asked someone how to spell their name once because I couldn't remember it. It was AJ," a third person added. Another wrote: "I always say 'hey what's your name again?' and when they say it, I'll say 'oh I meant your last name."

One other commenter said: "Girllll you're genius and my idol."
