Woman shares 'game-changing' jar-opening hack that has left people stunned

A woman on TikTok has revealed how you can get stubborn jar lids open in an instant, which people have described as a "game-changing" hack.

There's nothing more frustrating than starting to prepare a meal, then trying to get the lid of a jar open that just won't budge. It's even more irritating when the common solutions, like running it under hot water or smacking it off the counter tops, don't seem to do anything either.

But there's no need to abandon your cooking session as apparently all you need to prise open any tight lid is a simple bottle opener. That's according to author and therapist KC Davis, who shared the quick hack with her 1.5 million followers.

The Mirror reports that KC, known as @domesticblisters on TikTok, often posts helpful and informative videos online that are particularly useful for those with mental health issues.

And her jar-opening tip has been massively popular, harnessing over 206,000 likes and thousands of comments.

In the video, which shows KC struggling to open a jar of pasta sauce, she says: "I was 36 years old when I realised," after which she takes a bottle opener and places it on the side of the lid. She gently lifts it slightly up to release the pressure.

Then KC tries to twist the lid and it easily comes off.

The comments were full of people thanking KC for the hack and saying they'll definitely be trying it next time they come across a stubborn jar.

One person said: "I just went and opened every single jar in my kitchen to prove this. Now I have to use it."

Another commented: "I am speechless. You mean I've been fighting kids for 34 years for no reason?!"

A third added: "Oh boy this is a game changer!"

One person shared another tip to avoid causing any damage to the lid, saying: "If it doesn't pop easily, do it on another side or it'll bend the top too much and won't close right."

Others started sharing their own different advice, with some saying they do the same but using a spoon or butter knife to release the suction.

Another shared: "I just tap the around the edge of the lid with the end of a butter knife. Works perfect!"

A third added: "I just bang the back of a utensil on the centre of the lid and it does the trick."
