Woman shares 'game-changing' hack for getting pen off sofa after kids drew on it

There are so many great things about having children, but if we're being totally honest, one of the downsides is that they sometimes destroy our things.

We recently saw how one mum was left heartbroken after her little ones trashed her expensive make-up.

Often it's an accidental mess they've made, but it can be upsetting none-the-less to see our hard-earned money go down the drain.

One thing many kids do is draw on surfaces they shouldn't, such as sofas and chairs.

If this is a problem you've faced, then you might be in luck as a cleaning fanatic has shared her top tip for removing pen marks from furniture.

How do you get it off? (TikTok)

Shared on TikTok, by Liesl Elizabeth, who posts on @cleanfreak_cleaningco the simple life hack has been branded 'game-changing'.

All you need to do it for yourself is a can of hairspray.

In the clip, Liesl shows how there's a line of pen on her sofa and she sprays some hairspray on the mark and leaves it to soak in for a few minutes.

She then takes a wet cloth and wipes over the hairspray and as she does so, the pen mark disappears.

And the mark is gone! (TikTok)

The video has gone viral, garnering over 956,000 views and more than 92,000 likes.

Many were impressed with the trick, with one person commenting: "I'm tempted to draw on my own couch just to test this."

Another said: "One more episode of 'I learn more on TikTok than I've learned in my whole life'."

A third posted: "I'm a hairdresser and when we get hair dye on our clothes we quickly spray with hairspray then it usually disappears."

"Game changer if this actually works," proclaimed someone else.

A different user: "Yep been doing this for years, works on most fabrics and vinyl walls etc."
