Poached eggs are notoriously tricky to get right, and a quick Google search for how to cook eggs in the unique style will bring up dozens of different methods that all claim to offer the very best in egg poaching perfection. And whether you like to use poached egg cups or you're partial to putting white vinegar in your pan when you boil your water, for many, the tips that claim to help either don't work or are very unreliable.
But one chef has said she's developed a "foolproof" method of poaching eggs that she claims works every time - and all you need is a kitchen utensil that you probably already own, Express.co.uk reports.
What's your secret to perfect poached eggs? Let us know in the comments!
Kelly Scott shared a video on TikTok in which she broke her egg into a sieve, which allowed the loose whites to fall through and kept the firm white around the yolk - meaning that when you cook it, you won't get the excess white streaks in your water.
She said: "I used to have to poach hundreds of eggs for breakfast service, and this is a foolproof way to make the perfect poached egg. You can do this with multiple eggs at once and it still works."
After passing the egg through a sieve, Kelly - who posts under the username @kellyscleankitchen - then heats her water to 80 degrees Celcius and swirls the water with a spoon before dropping the egg inside.
Next, she swirls the water again to shape the egg and cooks it for two to three minutes.
And commenters on the post have insisted that using Kelly's cooking hack has made all the difference to their poached egg game, with many saying the trick "worked really well" for them.
One person said: "This inspired me to make poached eggs as soon as I saw it. I've literally never made them myself before and it actually worked really well!"
While another added: "I've tried so many different methods for poaching eggs and this one finally worked for me!"
And a third wrote: "As a chef apprentice, thank you. I'm saving this for later when we do more egg stuff."
The chef also said you can add vinegar to your water to help bind the egg if you feel it needs it, but her hack is designed to not use anything but pure water in her pan.
