Woman shares decluttering hack to hide wires - but some say 'it's a fire hazard'

A woman has revealed how she hides unsightly wires that sit around bedside cabinets.

Carolina regularly shares handy tips and tricks on TikTok, where she's known as @carolina.mccauley, including how to fold towels like a pro, get your glass shower screen gleaming and the best way to restore rusty knives.

But it's her charging 'hack' that's caused a bit of a stir, as some people commented to say it's a fire hazard.

She asked TikTok users: "Does your bedside table look like this?" with a shocked face emoji.

In the video that has amassed 127,000 views, Carolina showed a cabinet cluttered with wires before claiming she has a "perfection solution."

She can be seen removing all of the drawers from her bedside table, before pulling an extension cable through a gap in the back of it.

After slotting the drawers back into place, she places the extension lead in the top drawer so that the wires are no longer visible.

Since being posted, the video has received almost 11,000 likes and a number of comments from users who praised how tidy it looked.

People warned it may be a fire hazard (TikTok)

One person commented: "Cords drive me crazy," and another said it was a "good idea."

However, other people were quick to point out that it could be a fire hazard.

One person said: "Isn't that a fire hazard? Plugs and appliances get hot during charging and use."

Another wrote: "Um people... please don't do this."

"Fire waiting to happen," commented a third.

And: "I would seriously advise against doing this!!! There's not enough air circulation," warned someone else.
