Woman shares creepy vid after neighbour installs camera pointing at her bedroom

A woman has been urged to go to the police after a neighbour seemingly installed a CCTV camera facing into her bedroom.

She shared a video of the wall-mounted camera apparently pointing directly into her home.

TikTok user @bbzeb posted the video with the comment: "When your neighbour installs a camera directly towards your window.”

The woman, from the US, has tried to shake off the creepy development with a joke, videoing herself sipping wine and staring at the unsettling new feature outside her bedroom.

Since it was posted, the clip has been viewed more than 370k - but commenters say it should be taken a lot more seriously.

It’s unclear if the camera can actually see into her home but many believe she should go to the authorities and find out if her privacy is being breached, Sun Online reports.

One said “I hope you do something about this”, while another bluntly told her to “call the police”.

Another commenter wrote: "That's illegal, by law he has to point it away from your window.”

Other less formal solutions were proposed, including getting a reflective tint applied to her window - or shining a laser pen at the camera to “fry it”.

In the US, home CCTV systems are legal but an expectation of privacy is protected under federal law.

That means you can’t be filmed in a private place, including a home, even if the footage is captured from a public place.

In the UK, home camera systems can be freely used as long as they exclusively capture footage on the owner’s property.

If the scope of the camera stretches further, the footage becomes subject to data protection regulation.
