Woman shares 'creepy' CCTV of stranger standing outside home in middle of night

A terrified resident has warned neighbours to stay alert after CCTV captured a man stood staring at her home in the middle of the night.

The video was recorded a little before 3.15am on Monday (January 31) at the house on The Darlings, in Hart village, near Hartlepool.

Cleveland Police are aware of the incident but declined to comment on the footage, according to Teesside Live.

In the clip, the man can be seen standing on the path leading to front door for several minutes, looking about the front of property and occasionally going on his phone.

He then vanishes for almost an hour, before he is captured again running from the side of the home and getting into a car.

The resident said: "He was stood there for a few minutes from 3.15am to 3.21am.

"Disappeared for an hour - not sure to where.

"We have cameras on the back of the house looking into the garden and the garage that’s out the back detached from the house but the garden camera has been off as it was faulty.

"Then he came back running from side of our house and into a car.

"Nothing seems to be taken but it's just super creepy."

The woman said she does not know of any other residents seeing the man that night on their CCTV cameras.

"I’ve asked my neighbours close to me but as far as I can see it's just around our house," she said.

She told Teesside Live she reported the incident to Cleveland Police but said they did not ask for the recordings.

"The villages need a police presence occasionally and it will reduce fear 100%," she added.

Teesside Live contacted the force about the incident but they declined to comment.

The resident, who does not want to be named, shared the video on a community Facebook page for the village.

Another resident reported a similar incident occurring several weeks ago.

She said: "A few weeks back I came out of our house early one morning, still dark, at about 5.45am.

"I noticed a male figure stood over the road from where we live, just standing there staring. He then disappears

"I didn't recognise this person; he wasn't a dog walker or anyone I would have known from the village and it really unnerved me."
