A woman has shared a genius hack for keeping avocados fresh and green for a long period of time.
The trick, which was shared in a slow cooker group on Facebook, has already been shared hundreds of times.
It involves laying out the avocados on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper before freezing them, Manchester Evening News reports.
Posting on the popular Facebook group Slow Cooker Recipe and Tips, the woman wrote: "A little trick I’ve been doing with avocado!
"I heard that you can buy it frozen but was never able to find it anywhere. So I thought why not freeze it myself. It works amazing!"
"So I buy fresh avocado, cut in half take pit out and slice it. You can chunk it too. I lay it out on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze.
"Then just put in freezer bag and you can take out what you need.
"A lot of you like it in smoothies. I have been letting it thaw and use it on sandwiches or with eggs. It stays nice and green as well!"
The trick was praised by members of the group, with one person commenting: "So useful to know. Thank you I'll be buying avocados again as I'm the only one who eats them in our house."
"I didn't even know you can freeze them but thank you for the tip, I must try," another added.
