A fitness coach has shared photos before and after editing to promote the reality of Instagram photos that appear to be "perfect". Holly Cockerill regularly posts edited pictures to demonstrate how quickly images can be altered and then uploaded.
Now Holly, who's from Blackburn, has shared various composite images that show her "real" self next to the highly edited versions. One of them pictures Holly alongside her boyfriend with the pair smiling for the camera. The filtered version beside it shows Holly's straight hair instantly longer, and falling in beachy waves, reports the LiverpoolECHO.
The filter has added considerably more makeup to her face, and shows fuller lips. Her cheekbones are also more defined.
Another picture shows Holly pulling a funny face. The edited version beside it suddenly shows her smiling instead, with thicker eyelashes, a more contoured face, and defined eyebrows.
Captioning the side-by-side photos, Holly said: "This is for the gals that need a reminder that not everyone is as perfect and airbrushed as they seem, and that’s okay! We are perfectly imperfect".
The posts quickly amassed hundreds of likes, with many people commenting on the "extreme" photo edits. Charlotte said: "This is actually wild! And so sad that people feel they have to do this".
Taylor Leanne Perkins said: "Amazing! Needed this today, teaches women to be comfortable in there own skin, we need to stop putting filters on and be proud of who we are naturally". Carly said: "It’s unbelievable people can do this isn’t it xx".
