A woman has shared her 50p hack for getting filthy trainers sparkling white again.
After a packed summer of festivals, day trips and holiday sightseeing, anyone with white trainers may assume their dirt-covered shoes are a lost cause.
However, one shopper has revealed an amazing way to get your trainers looking brand new again, Manchester Evening News reports.
She shared the hack in a popular Facebook cleaning group and said it involves two simple budget products.
Alongside a picture of her white trainers, Angela wrote: "After washing these constantly and not being able to get them back white, I was going to put them in the bin! Then I tried elbow grease and a dishwasher tablet.... they are like new! WOW!"
Explaining the process, she added: "Spray the Elbow Grease on and leave it to soak in for 10 minutes then pop them in the washing machine with your usual detergent and a dishwasher tablet."
Many Facebook users were impressed with the hack, with one saying: "I sprayed my grandson's trainers with elbow grease put them in pillow slip they were like new again.
Another added: "My other half did his white Air Force 1s last night used a toothbrush to scrub Pink Stuff on them then put them in washing machine with a dishwasher tablet and washing tablet and Fairy stain remover and they have also come up like new."
Elbow Grease is currently on offer for £1 at Tesco , while a pack of Fairy Platinum Plus dishwasher tablets costs £9 for a pack of 60 on Amazon. With that working out at 15p per dishwasher tablet, and assuming you won't need to use the whole bottle of Elbow Grease, we estimate the hack will cost around 50p max.
