Woman 'shaken up' after finding man dressed in black by conservatory at 3am

A woman said she was "shaken up" after she saw a man dressed in black walking beside her conservatory at 3am.

The woman said she was "absolutely mortified" and ran to her husband after seeing the man outside her house.

But when she returned back to her conservatory she said the man had scarpered.

Writing in the Crimewatch Southport and surrounding areas Facebook Group, the woman said she was "absolutely mortified and actually shaken up" after the traumatising experience.

She warned residents of Shaftesbury Avenue and the surrounding PR8 postcode to keep alert.

The woman said she had opened the door just five minutes before she saw the man to let her cat out into the garden.

She added she remembered her cat acting strange before adding she was "so grateful" for locking the door behind her.

The woman's full post said: "At 3am this morning I was up making a coffee and looked through my window to see a man all dressed in black walking down the side of my conservatory, he saw me, I saw him - I ran for my husband and by time he came down he was gone.

"Keep your sheds and garages locked up and bikes etc safe please.

"I’m absolutely mortified and actually shaken up also as I had opened the door to let the cat out not 5 mins earlier and the cat was acting strange and staring at the top of the garden were my shed is, just so grateful I locked the door behind letting him out."

Commenters on the woman's Facebook post were quick to check on the woman's condition and urged her to contact the police.

One person said: "Thanks for sharing and hope you are ok. It really does shake you up."

A second person said: "You must feel shaken, it's terrifying."

Someone else wrote: "Trust your animals is a saying in our house. Sorry to hear this," to which the woman replied: "I know, my cat always knows when something isn’t right, I should of trusted his warning".

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police told the ECHO: "We received an online report at 10.55am today (Thursday) reporting that a male was seen in the garden of a property in Shaftesbury Avenue at around 3am today.

"The male, dressed in dark clothing, left a short time later.

"There is no suggestion anything was stolen or that the man attempted to enter the property.

"Local policing officers in the area have been made aware."
