Woman sexually assaulted while walking through park

A woman has been sexually assaulted while walking through a Barry park.

The incident took place on a path known locally as Chicken Wood Park at around 3.30am on Sunday.

The woman, aged in her 30s, was assaulted by a man described as white, in his late 20s to early 30s, of large muscular build, short brown hair and he had a beard and a goatee.

He was described as having a West Country accent and distinctive features included a scar along his left cheek underneath his eye and he had a tattoo on his left thumb.

The suspect was wearing a grey Duffer hoodie which had a pattern across the chest and black jeans.

Police have issued an appeal for the man's whereabouts and are looking at CCTV, carrying out forensic examinations and making house to house enquiries.

Detective inspector Emma Hampton, of South Wales Police , said: "We are appealing to anyone who may have seen this man before or after the incident to please come forward. Enquiries are ongoing and the woman is being supported by specially trained officers."
