Woman sexually assaulted on Ryanair flight from Liverpool to Spain

A woman travelling on a flight from Liverpool to Spain reported she was sexually assaulted by another passenger.

Police have confirmed that a British man was arrested after being accused of touching up the woman on the Ryanair flight. Air stewards radioed police from the air after the woman , who is also British, said he touched one of her breasts and asked her to have sex with him in the toilet.

The woman claims the incident happened moments before the flight landed. It's reported the man, who was a stranger to her, said unwanted sexual innuendos to her. He was then held when the plane touched down in Spain earlier this month.

The unnamed man was reportedly fined £2,500 after appearing in court on Monday, September 26. A source said: "The British woman said a stranger she’d never met in her life who sat down on the plane beside her started to bother her with comments about her breasts minutes into the flight and even suggested they go to the toilets together.

"She said he made a number of sexist comments during the flight and shortly before the plane landed, touched her shoulder and then one of her breasts. She asked members of the air crew for help who alerted the Civil Guard through airport control.

"Officers were waiting by the plane when it landed and the woman went up to them and explained briefly what had happened before accompanying police to make a full formal statement. The man was arrested at the scene."

A spokesperson for Ryanair said: "The crew of this flight from Liverpool to Spain requested police assistance after being made aware of an individual behaving inappropriately towards another passenger. The crew moved the passenger away from this individual for the rest of the flight and police removed him from the aircraft upon landing. This is now a matter for local police."

A spokesman for the Civil Guard said: "I can confirm we arrested a British man aged 35 late on Sunday night on suspicion of a crime of sexual abuse.

"He was held as he got off the plane on arrival and taken to court after a night in a police cell. His female accuser made a formal statement after officers took him away."
