After the incident, the suspect got off the bus in the Islington area.
Detectives have now issued a CCTV image of a man who they'd like to speak to after the assault.
They believe that the man in the image may have information that can help their investigation.
CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspect responsible, and detectives have issued images of a man they believe could assist with their investigation.
Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: "We take reports of sexual assault very seriously, and we are very keen to speak with anyone with information about the incident which took place.
"This was an extremely traumatic experience for the victim, and we are working hard to ensure that the person responsible is identified.
"I am also appealing for people to come forward if you recognise the male featured in these images. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries."
