Woman 'sexually assaulted' in Glasgow street as police cordon off road

A woman has reported being sexually assaulted in Glasgow city centre, sparking a police investigation.

The alarm was raised around midnight on Saturday, 14 May after officers received a report of a 21-year-old having been attacked.

The incident took place near to Sauchiehall Lane in the city.

The area has been cordoned off by police while they investigate.

Cops have launched a probe into the assault a bid to establish what exactly happened.

They say enquiries are currently at an 'early stage'.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Between 12am and 12.10am on Saturday, 14 May, officers received a report of a 21-year-old woman having been sexually assaulted near to Sauchiehall Lane, Glasgow.

“Enquiries are at an early stage and are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.”
