Woman sexually assaulted at bus stop in Scots town as police launch probe

A woman has been sexually assaulted by a man at a bus stop in a Scots town.

The incident occurred on Maitland Court near East Princes Street in Helensburgh around 10.40pm on Friday, November 19.

The 20-year-old had been chatting to the man she had met at the bus stop and after a short time he attempted to kiss her.

When she rejected his advances, he sexually assaulted her before walking off, according to Police Scotland.

The suspect has been described as white, 6ft 2ins tall, of a heavy build with ginger hair and a beard.

He had been wearing a black jacket, black jeans and trainers at the time of the incident.

Detective Constable Ross Gemmell, Clydebank CID, said: "Although the woman did not require medical treatment, she was left very shaken by what had happened.

"We are following lines of enquiry with regard to the person responsible but are still appealing to anyone who may recognise the description of the man or who may have seen what happened to come forward.

"The area would have been quite busy at this time of night, so if you have any information that may assist our enquiry, then contact officers at Clydebank CID via 101.

"Please quote reference number 4249 of Friday, 19 November, 2021, when calling. Alternatively, details can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
