Woman sexually assaulted by hooded man who asked her for help

A woman was sexually assaulted in the early hours of the morning by a man who had asked her for help.

The victim was on her way home from work when a hooded man asked her for assistance before attacking her. She managed to get free and fled but was left so terrified she has only just come forward to police to report the incident, which happened at around 1.45am on April 1 in Cwmavon Road in Port Talbot.

A police appeal said her attacker, in his late 30s, had almost no teeth other than two at the front and top of his mouth.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: “We are appealing for information after a woman was sexually assaulted in Port Talbot.

“The man is described as white, aged in his late 30s, about 6ft 1in tall and of skinny build. He had a pointy chin with sunken cheekbones, dark thick eyebrows, and scruffy dark, unkempt sideburns.

“He had two front teeth at the top however no top back or bottom teeth. He spoke with a local slurred accent and smelt strongly of cigarettes.

“He was wearing a black hoodie with its hood up and dark jeans or skinny jogging bottoms.”
