Woman seriously injured in hospital after being hit by car in Longsight

A woman is seriously injured in hospital after being hit by a car in Longsight.

The crash happened on Birchfields Road at around 7.30am this morning (Tuesday).

The woman, aged in her 50s, was hit by a black Tesla, police said.

She was taken to hospital from the scene with serious injuries.

No arrests have been made.

A police cordon was in place on Birchfields Road after the crash this morning, with a number of police vehicles and officers stationed at the scene.

A section of the road was taped off near Birchfields Park.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "At around 7.30am this morning (7 September) police were called to a report of a road traffic collision on Birchfields Road between a black Tesla and a pedestrian.

"Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, a woman in her 50s was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"No arrests have been made."
